Fresh Linen started in Atlanta in the late 2000s, put together by four friends. They put out a debut EP called 'Bloom', and its single 'Fro Grow' got some radio play and attention. The song had a straightforward message about growing into yourself, which connected with listeners at the time.
In 2012, they released a second album titled 'Aspire'. It kept their melodic, alt-rock feel but added some hip-hop touches, which didn't sit well with everyone. A few years later, around 2014, they got tied up in a legal fight over who owned their music. It was a rough patch, but they sorted it out and kept going.
They made two more albums after that, 'Illuminate' in 2016 and 'Embers' in 2019. The sound on those records felt a bit more settled and reflective, with some genre experiments mixed in. It wasn't a dramatic reinvention, just the work of a band figuring things out as they went along.
