I hit the Tennessee Valley with the snow coming down

Pulled the car over and took a good, long look around

I had the future in my headlights, the wind at my back

Heard my darling softly sleeping, curled up in the back

Hitched up to a 4 by 8 with everything we own

I said, “Honey, I think that we're home”

It's been 14 days since my hometown well ran dry

Didn't seem to take too long to pack it up and say goodbye

So long to broken promises, “Adios” to the bitter end

That highway's rushing at us looking like a long lost friend
