Funez formed in 2006 in Santos, Brazil, with Rafael Altério on vocals and guitar, Gabriel Altério on guitar and vocals, André Vasconcellos on bass, and Marcelo Neves on drums. They released their debut album in 2010. Their song "Brasileiro" came out in 2013 and became widely popular, eventually serving as the theme for the Brazilian Olympic team in 2016.
Their music draws from Brazilian rhythms alongside rock, folk, and blues. Beyond "Brasileiro," other tracks like "Contra a Corrente" and "Erga a Cabeça" show their range. They've played festivals such as Lollapalooza Brazil and Rock in Rio.
