Funk Samba Club formed in Rio de Janeiro in 2006 with Jefferson Junior on vocals and percussion, Felipe Rodriguez on guitar and vocals, and Thiago Carrasqueira on drums. They put out their first album in 2009 and followed it with a live recording from Circo Voador in 2013.
Their track "Tipo Solta" from 2019, featuring Gabriel Diniz, drew some attention in 2016 when its lyrics were interpreted by some as referencing drug use. The band said it was actually about freedom and self-expression.
They've worked with other Brazilian artists like Ivete Sangalo and Xande de Pilares, and released another song called "Gin" with Jojo Maronttinni.
