Archive material and source history
Funkashot formed in Madrid in 1997, with Carlos Tarque on vocals and guitar, Diego García on bass, Javier Rodríguez on keyboards, Pablo Maroto on drums, and Alejandro Climent on percussion. They started putting out albums that year, beginning with a self-titled debut. Their sound mixed funk and soul with Latin rhythms, which wasn't always an easy sell to labels at first.
In 2003, they released 'Pánico Automático,' and the track 'Una Clase de Hombre' from it became their biggest hit. They kept releasing albums every few years after that, including 'El Observatorio' in 2006 and 'El Equipo A' in 2009.
Their lineup has stayed fairly consistent over time, with the same five musicians still playing together. They put out their sixth studio album, 'Búnker,' in 2013.
