Funkdango

Funkdango started in Bogota, Colombia, in the early 2000s. The band formed around lead vocalist and guitarist Juancho Valencia, who wanted to move away from the more conventional sounds in the local scene. They blended funk and soul with traditional Colombian rhythms, though that mix didn't catch on right away with audiences used to mainstream genres.

In 2006, they put out their debut album, 'Verde Revolución.' The title track became a hit, an anthem about environmental consciousness that helped the band find listeners beyond Colombia. Their lyrics often touched on political and environmental themes, which sometimes sparked debate, but it also built them a loyal following.

Over the next decade, they released albums like 'Sonido Global' in 2009, 'Tierra Canta' in 2012, and 'Evolución' in 2015. The music kept that blend of funk and Colombian roots, with Juancho Valencia remaining a central figure in the group.
