Funkmaster Flex is Aston Taylor Jr., a DJ from the Bronx who started playing at local block parties in the late 1980s. By 1992 he had a weekly show on Hot 97 called The Flex Show, where he played new hip-hop and talked over tracks with what became his recognizable radio style.
