For too long Ive tried

to compromise my integrity

for someone elses dreams

I closed my eyes my mind

and let them lead me into submission

now I feel the lesser of two evils

with my head bowed down

tail between my legs

and Im afraid this is not me

inspiration it flies high

when Im looking up

away from the american lie

expectations fill my head with dreams

Ive never dreamt

I pledge defiance to a society

forged from anger, hate and greed

hoping that someday my fight will catch on you

now my pockets full of lint

and my heads full of expectations

Im still trying to build a guiltless fortress
