Futures Past formed in Los Angeles in the late 2000s when vocalist Willow West met guitarist Ethan Hayes at an open mic night. They were joined by bassist Liam James and drummer Ryan Carter. The band's debut EP came out in 2010, and their 2015 single 'Days Go By' became a breakthrough track that resonated with listeners.
In 2012, Hayes suffered a hand injury that forced the band to cancel a tour. They worked around it in their live shows. A few years later, in 2017, they faced a copyright dispute over a sample used in another song. The group released four albums between 2010 and 2019, including 'Fragments' and 'Reflections' alongside their self-titled debut and the 'Days Go By' album.
