Fuuka formed in 2007 as a duo with vocalist Miho Karasawa and guitarist Kenji Akabane. They later added bassist Hiroshi Tominaga and drummer Koji Nishimura, releasing their self-titled debut album in 2008.
Their 2010 single "Memories" became their most recognizable song, gaining attention both in Japan and internationally. Karasawa took a leave of absence in 2014 for health reasons, during which the band continued performing with guest vocalists including Chinatsu Ishii and Mai Kuraki before Karasawa returned in 2017.
By 2019, Fuuka had released six studio albums, two EPs, and various singles.
