G A B S

G A B S is a Brazilian trio formed in Rio de Janeiro around 2010 by Gabriela Gomes, Arthur Aguiar, and Bruno Martini. They started playing together with little recognition or money, just trying to make music work. Their sound eventually found an audience with songs like "Sozinha," a ballad that connected with listeners in Brazil and elsewhere.

Their recordings show some movement from straightforward pop to something a bit more textured. An early EP called "Voz" had clear Brazilian rhythms, while later albums like "Mais de Mim" and a live Rio recording suggested they were stretching out. Gomes handles most of the singing, Aguiar plays guitar and adds vocals, and Martini works on keyboards and production.

There have been some rough patches along the way, including a personal scandal involving Aguiar in 2019 and accusations of plagiarism that the band denied. They kept making music through it, with tracks like "Encontrar" and "Rosas" appearing in their catalog. For a group that started with modest means, they've managed to put together a body of work that people listen to.
