Gaitaço Tche formed in Salvador, Bahia in the early 1990s. Their music works with samba rhythms in an urban setting, and songs like 'Vamo Botá Que o Pai Não Tá' and 'Inventor Dos Amores' became popular in Brazil.
Their lyrics sometimes addressed social issues, which occasionally drew attention beyond just the music. The band released albums including 'Gaitaço Tche' in 1995, 'Samba Novo' in 1998, and 'Pimenta no Dendê' in 2003.
Carlinhos Brown handled vocals and percussion, with Mestre Pretinho on percussion, Gilson Xavier on drums, Magary Lord on bass, and Ronaldo 'Pantera' Silva on keyboards.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
