Galactic Cowboys formed in Dallas, Texas, in the late 1980s. Their self-titled debut album came out in 1990, and the single '9th of June' got some attention on rock radio. The band's lineup included Ben Huggins on vocals and guitar, Danny Gorham on guitar, Alan Doss on bass, and Dave Gentry on drums.
They put out a few more records in the early '90s, like 'Space in Your Face' and 'Feel the Rage.' Their sound mixed rock with some funk and blues elements, which could be heard on tracks like 'Blind' and 'Bound.' They weren't afraid to write about social issues, which sometimes rubbed traditional rock fans the wrong way.
By the mid-'90s, they released 'The Horse That Music Built,' which showed them experimenting a bit more. They kept playing and recording for a while after that, but never quite broke through to mainstream fame. Their music, especially songs like '9th of June,' still gets played by fans who remember that early '90s Texas rock sound.
