Galija formed in Belgrade in 1973 around guitarist and vocalist Zoran Radomirović, who went by Cane. Their early years were spent working out a sound while dealing with the political climate of the time.
In 1978 they released the album 'San o dolasku proleća,' which included the song 'Bluz za velikog majstora.' That track became a kind of standard for them. Their lyrics sometimes drew official attention, which led to some restrictions but also connected with listeners.
Other members who shaped the band's sound included Saša Lokner on bass, Bratislav Bata Petrović on drums, and Slaviša Pavlović on harmonica. Over decades they put out records like 'Blues za velikog majstora' in 1986 and 'Orao nebeski' as recently as 2020, with songs such as 'Cujem Te' and 'Da me nisi' in their catalog.
