Gaphriel was a Spanish band that formed in the 1990s, mixing rock and pop with flamenco elements. Their song "Dile a él" became a hit in 1995, the same year they released their first album under that title. The group had five members: José Manuel Martínez on lead vocals, Juanjo Martín on guitar, Miguel Ángel Jiménez on bass, Carlos Tato on drums, and José Luis Nieto on keyboards.
They put out four more studio albums after that, ending with a self-titled record in 2003. Other songs like "Sabes" and "Sin Ti" show their blend of rock energy and Spanish melodic traditions. Their stage shows and lyrics sometimes drew criticism, but they kept a following through those years.
Their music pulled from rock acts like Queen and The Beatles as well as flamenco guitarist Paco de Lucía. They worked in themes of love and rebellion across their records, which included "El segundo" in 1997, "Entre dos mares" in 1999, and "4" in 2001. The band hasn't been active in recent years, but songs like "Una Vuelta En Medellin" and their earlier hits still get played.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
