A raw, fast band that came up during Brazil's tense political years in the 1980s.
For a quick sense of their sound, 'Apresento Mi Amigo!' and 'Aos Fuzilados Da C.S.N.' frame it well.
They formed in 1982 and their sound had the urgency of early punk, with songs like 'Papai Noel Filho da Puta' causing enough trouble that some tried to get it censored. Tracks like 'Mancha' and 'Hino do Álcool' became live staples, and their first album in 1985 just carried their name. They're remembered as an important part of Brazil's punk scene from that era.
Garotos Podres started with Márcio Mello on vocals and guitar, César Carneiro on bass, and Mauro 'Capilé' Santana on drums. They put out records through the late '80s, including 'Diga Não à Droga, Diga Sim à Vida' in 1986 and 'O País do Cão' in 1988, with Márcio Mello staying constant as the lineup shifted.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
