His international breakthrough came with the duet "Sous le vent" alongside Youssou N'Dour in 2000. Songs like "Un Peu Plus Haut, Un Peu Plus Loin" and "Je Lui Pardonne" show his range across pop and rock styles, and he's worked with artists from Celine Dion to Charles Aznavour.
He started playing guitar in local bands in Quebec before landing the role in Notre-Dame de Paris. After that, he released albums like Garou in 2000 and Reviens in 2003, and won a Victoire de la Musique award for Male Artist of the Year in 2001.
