Gaudério Missioneiro formed in 1987 in Rio Grande do Sul, with the straightforward aim of playing the traditional music of the Pampa region. Their first album, 'Amizade, Alma do Pampa,' came out in 1989. The band's lineup included Gaudério and Guri de Uruguaiana on vocals and guitar, Chico Bronze on bass, and Canhoto on drums.
Their music draws from regional styles like bailão, vanerão, and chamamé, often focusing on the life and values of the gauchos. The song 'Amizade, Alma do Pampa' became a local favorite for its celebration of friendship, a central theme in their work.
They released several more albums through the 1990s, including 'Pampa Sem Fronteiras' and 'O Canto do Gaudério.' In 1999, they received the Prêmio Açorianos de Música. A later compilation, '25 Anos de Amizade,' marked their 25th anniversary in 2014.
