Gaurithoth

Gaurithoth formed in the late '90s, coming out of what their early press described as the bleakness of the American Midwest. Their music pulled from black metal's raw energy and doom metal's slower, heavier tempos, creating a sound that was deliberately confrontational from the start.

Their 1999 album 'Black Magic and Perversions' gave the band its first major notoriety, with its title track and songs like 'Bloody cunt and latex glove' drawing censorship in several countries. The band's lyrics, often written by the vocalist known as Necro, focused on occult themes and graphic imagery that pushed against conventional limits.

The group's core lineup has included guitarist Malefic, bassist Azrael, and drummer Morbid alongside Necro. They've worked with musicians from other extreme metal acts like Marduk and Krisiun, but their own recordings, including tracks such as 'Confession of the Pope' and 'Deathsmell', remain their primary statement.
