G.D.L formed in 1999 with Guilherme Gonçalves (Guigo) on vocals and guitar, Dinho Ouro Preto on bass, and Léo Leoni on drums. Their debut album 'Destino' came out in 2000, followed by records like 'Acústico MTV' in 2004 and '4000 Anos de Solidão' in 2006. They put out 'Melodrama' in 2009 and 'Hey!' in 2014 before disbanding in 2018.
In 2006, they released 'Silêncio,' a song that addressed violence and discrimination. The track became one of their most recognized works. Around 2008, Guigo was arrested for cocaine possession, which affected the band's standing at the time.
After G.D.L ended, the members pursued solo projects. Their music, particularly songs like 'Silêncio,' remains part of the Brazilian pop-rock conversation from that period.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
