Gene Clark was a founding member of The Byrds, where he wrote songs like 'Eight Miles High' and 'I'll Feel a Whole Lot Better.' He left the band in 1966 and worked on solo material. In the late 1970s, he began collaborating with singer-songwriter Carla Olson.
Their partnership produced albums starting with 'So Rebellious a Lover' in 1987. They recorded a version of Clark's song 'Midnight Mission' for that album. Later releases included 'Firebyrd' in 1994 and 'Silhouette' in 1999.
Their recordings sometimes featured other musicians like Rick Danko, Clarence White, Chris Hillman, and Peter Buck. The work they did together has held up as a particular chapter in Clark's catalog after his time with The Byrds.
