Gene Eugene formed in Los Angeles in 2017 around singer-songwriter Eugene Park, guitarist Ethan Roberts, bassist Ethan Allen, and drummer Kyle O'Quinlivan. They released their debut EP 'Whispers of the Void' in 2018, followed by their first full-length album 'Marvelous Light' the next year. The title track from that album became their most recognizable song.
In 2020, the band faced some public scrutiny over their single 'Burning Bridges,' with accusations of plagiarism that sparked debate about artistic inspiration. They continued releasing music afterward, putting out the EP 'Celestial Embrace' in 2021 and the single 'Lament' in 2022.
