Generacija 5 formed in Belgrade in 1976 with Zoran "Zox" Kostić on vocals, Dragan "Laza" Ristovski on guitar, Dragoljub "Gule" Ivanović on bass, and Slobodan "Bobi" Stefanović on drums. Their early sound mixed punk and hard rock, and they built a reputation for energetic live shows and lyrics that didn't shy away from trouble.
They followed it in 1980 with "Dunav," which had another track about America called "Daleko je Amerika." The band faced censorship and official pressure but kept playing.
Generacija 5 eventually toured outside Yugoslavia, sharing stages with bands like the Ramones and The Clash. Their music found listeners abroad even as it caused problems at home.
