Geohot

Geohot is an electronic music act that surfaced in New York City around the late 2000s. The group was built around a vocalist and producer named Geo and a multi-instrumentalist called Hot. They put out a debut EP called 'The Dark Side of the Room' in 2010, which included tracks like 'Static' and 'The Void.'

Their second EP, 'The Light It Up Contest,' arrived a bit later and gave them their most recognizable song. That title track became something people talked about, partly for its melody and partly for lyrics that seemed to speak to a sense of rebellion. The music pulled from electronic, hip-hop, and rock, but it was never really about fitting neatly into a genre.

Geohot's shows and videos sometimes drew criticism for being confrontational. In 2012, Geo was arrested during a performance for disorderly conduct, which added to the band's reputation as outsiders. They kept making music that felt raw and a little unsettled, more interested in energy than polish.
