George Fox formed in London in 1968, with John Foxx on vocals and guitar. Their debut album 'The Angel and the Man' came out the following year and included the single 'Angelina,' which reached number one in the UK. They kept recording through the 1970s, putting out albums like 'From the Heart' in 1971 and 'Under the Moon' in 1976. Their sound shifted across those records, from folk to more experimental rock. Later songs like 'Chemical Dreams' and 'Strange Days' show that range.
The band's lineup included Dave Morrell on drums and Gary Windo on saxophone and flute. They never matched the commercial peak of 'Angelina,' but they maintained a following for their atmospheric music and Foxx's distinctive voice.
