Gera

Gera formed in Manaus in the early 2000s with musicians Jeff Junior, Leonardo Barros, and Rafael Youngblood. They worked with a sound that mixed traditional Amazonian rhythms with rock elements. Their 2010 single 'Lendas e Mistérios Da Amazônia' became a breakthrough track, painting scenes of the rainforest's legends and spirits. Other songs like 'A Heróica Cavalgada de Um Povo' and 'Carnaval de Ilusões' continued this approach, drawing from local stories and imagery.

They released albums including 'Sonho de uma Noite na Amazônia' in 2006, the 'Lendas e Mistérios Da Amazônia' album in 2010, 'Amazonia Roots' in 2016, and 'O Canto da Floresta' in 2020. The core lineup included Jeff Junior on vocals and guitar, Leonardo Barros on bass and vocals, Rafael Youngblood on drums, and Claudio Rocha on keyboards and vocals.

Some listeners questioned whether the band was exploiting Amazonian culture for commercial purposes, but Gera maintained they were sharing local voices through music. Their work has appeared in film and television soundtracks, and they've performed internationally.
