Geração 42 formed in São Paulo in 1983 with Edu Ribeiro on vocals, Amaury Diniz on guitar, Fabio Jabur on bass, and Luis Bezerra on drums. Their self-titled debut album came out in 1989, and the song 'Ilusão' from that record became a significant hit in Brazil.
They released several albums through the 1990s and early 2000s, including 'A Vida Real' in 1991, 'Sempre o Sol' in 1994, and 'Terra Firme' in 1997. Other songs like 'Lugar Seguro' and 'Vale a Pena Esperar' also found an audience.
Their lyrics sometimes addressed social issues, which drew criticism from some quarters. The band kept performing and recording for years, with their music maintaining a following among Brazilian rock listeners.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
