Ghiis formed in Bogotá, Colombia in 2013. The band's sound pulls from salsa and cumbia, but they work in electronic beats too. Their 2018 single "Agitalo" became a hit across Latin America and Europe, with a music video that featured a dance routine people kept watching.
Sebastián Yepes sings lead, Esteban Díaz handles guitar and production, and Sebastián Mejía plays drums and bass. They put out a self-titled album in 2019 and followed it with "Revolución" in 2021. Other songs like "Bodeguero" and "Corazón de Noche" show the same mix of traditional rhythms and modern production.
In 2020, there was some noise about "Agitalo" sounding similar to another artist's work, but it got settled without much drama. They kept touring and putting music out, and their songs have turned up in films and TV shows here and there.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
