Archive material and source history
Ghizzi came together in London during the late 1960s. The band included Mick Ghizzi, Terry Cox, Pete Jefferies, and Carlo Little. They played a mix of rock and blues that didn't always sit well with critics at the time, but they kept at it in smaller venues.
In 1968, they put out a version of "Susie Q" that caught on. It was a take on the rhythm and blues tune, but with a heavier, more psychedelic feel. That single became their biggest hit and gave them a wider audience.
They released a few albums, including their self-titled debut in 1969 and "The Green Album" in 1971. Their sound had some experimental edges, pulling from rock, blues, and jazz. The band broke up in 1973 after some internal disagreements.
