Ghostly Kisses formed around 2010 when vocalist Xantheia began working with guitarist Daniel Chacon. Their early material had a sparse, atmospheric quality that caught some attention, though the project faced typical early obstacles like lineup shifts and limited resources. The song 'Where do Lovers Go?' from their 2013 debut album Ashes to Embers found a wider audience online, giving the group its first real momentum.
That debut record established their basic palette: Xantheia's airy vocals over beds of shimmering guitar and synth. Tracks like 'Blackbirds' and 'Empty Notes' typified this mood. After a period of inactivity following Chacon's departure in 2015, the band returned in 2017 with a second album, Lost in Time and Space, which featured contributions from other musicians like Ethan Kauffman and Daniel Alvarez.
Their music often circles themes of memory and absence, delivered with a light touch. The later song 'The City Holds My Heart' continues in that vein, a quiet reflection built from simple, repeating patterns. They've also recorded a French-language duet, 'J'ai Demandé À La Lune,' with Louis-Étienne Santais.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
