Giacomo Puccini was born in 1858 in Lucca, Italy, where his father worked as an organist. He wrote operas like 'La Bohème' in 1896, 'Tosca' in 1900, 'Madama Butterfly' in 1904, and 'Turandot', which was completed after his death in 1926.
Some of his most recognizable pieces come from those works, including 'O Mio Babbino Caro' from 'Gianni Schicchi' and 'Nessun Dorma' from 'Turandot'. The aria 'E Lucevan Le Stelle' appears in the third act of 'Tosca'.
Puccini's operas remain in regular production at houses around the world. Singers like Enrico Caruso performed his music, and conductors including Arturo Toscanini led it.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
