Gian Marco Zignago, who performs as Gian Marco, is a Peruvian singer-songwriter. He started playing guitar early, influenced by his father Javier Zignago, a well-known Peruvian musician, and by the folk and Andean sounds around him. His first album, simply titled "Gian Marco," came out in 1990 and did well enough to get him noticed.
Over the next decade or so, he put out records like "Se Me Olvidó" in 1993 and "Entre Tu y Yo" in 1997. Songs such as "Si Me Tenias" and "Sácala a Bailar" became popular, mixing romantic themes with those Peruvian musical roots. In 2004, there was some noise about his version of the classic "La Flor de la Canela," with accusations of plagiarism that were later dismissed, but it was a bump in the road.
He kept recording, with albums like "A Tiempo" and "Resucitar," and tracks like "Empezar de Nuevo" and "Vida de Mi Vida" showing his steady hand with ballads and personal lyrics. The music doesn't shout; it just settles in.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
