Gianni Fiorellino was born in 1934 in Naples, where he grew up hearing traditional Neapolitan folk songs. In the late 1950s, he formed a band called Gianni Fiorellino e il suo Complesso.
His song "...e Si' Damia" came out in 1969 and became widely popular in Italy. Other songs like "'Na Spagnuletta 'E Cuttone" and "Amore Computerizzato" also appeared in his catalog.
He worked with other Italian musicians including Mario Merola and Pino Daniele. The existing notes mention he had an outspoken nature, but don't elaborate on what that meant in practice.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
