Giannis Aggelakas was born in Athens in 1958. He started playing guitar in local bands before going solo in the late 1970s. In 1982, he co-founded the Greek rock band Trypes, whose self-titled debut album made an immediate impact with its raw sound and thoughtful lyrics.
After Trypes broke up in the early 2000s, Aggelakas returned to solo work. His 2004 album 'Pairne Me Mazi Soe' became a touchstone for many listeners, with the title track standing as a particularly haunting ballad. He has continued to release albums and perform live since then.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
