Gigantes do Samba formed in Rio de Janeiro in 1991. Their lineup has included singer and composer Wilson Moreira, guitarist Carlinhos 7 Cordas, and vocalist Arlindo Cruz, among others. In the mid-1990s, they released 'Cheia de Manias,' which became one of their most recognizable songs.
Their sound works with traditional samba rhythms, and they've recorded other tracks like 'É Tarde Demais' and 'Deus Me Livre.' They put out albums such as 'Pra Sempre Gigantes' in 1996 and 'Alma Guerreira' in 1998, and performed live recordings like 'Gigantes do Samba ao Vivo' in 2000.
Some of their material, including 'Cheia de Manias,' drew attention for how it portrayed women. The band kept recording through the early 2000s with releases like 'O Samba É Nosso' in 2002.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
