Gil Ofarim grew up in Munich with Israeli musician parents, which gave him an early immersion in music. He first gained wider attention at 18 as a contestant on the German talent show 'Deutschland sucht den Superstar,' where he finished third. That led to his solo debut album 'Here I Am' in 2006.
His songs like 'Everytime' and 'It's Your Love' have a straightforward pop-soul feel, with clear vocals and acoustic guitar work. He followed up with albums such as 'Westside' in 2008 and 'New Horizons' in 2011, which kept to a similar style of melodic pop and ballads.
In 2018, Ofarim was involved in a public incident where he alleged racial profiling at a Leipzig hotel, which drew media coverage in Germany. He has continued to release music, including the album '25' in 2020.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
