Gilberto Alves and Fernando worked together as a duo in the 1970s, with Gilberto handling guitar and vocals while Fernando played percussion. They performed in small venues and street corners before getting noticed by a record label.
Their debut album was simply titled "Gilberto Alves e Fernando," and it included the song "As Horas," which became particularly well-known. They also recorded another track called "Vai."
They released several albums including "Amor Proibido" and "Viola Enluarada." Their music drew from samba and bossa nova, and some listeners found their lyrics to be on the melancholy side.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
