Gilson e Seus Teclados formed in the early 1980s around keyboardist Gilson de Souza. They built a reputation in Rio de Janeiro's nightlife with a sound that mixed Brazilian rhythms and electronic keyboards, often playing with musicians like Jorginho do Pandeiro on percussion.
Their 1984 single 'Bambu Lascado' became a breakout hit, with its simple, repetitive keyboard line and playful lyrics about being 'crazy in the head.' Other songs like 'Debaixo da Saia Dela' and 'As Novinhas' followed a similar pattern of danceable grooves and cheeky themes.
Some listeners found their lyrics and stage presence too suggestive, but the band kept playing their style of keyboard-driven dance music through the 1980s.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
