He kept recording through the 1970s and 1980s, working with musicians like Milton Nascimento and Caetano Veloso. Other songs like 'Empinando O Rabetão' and 'Chá de Cama' found their way onto Brazilian radio, sticking to a mix of folk and samba that felt familiar without trying to reinvent it.
In 1982 he was in a car accident that left him paralyzed for months, but he returned to performing after recovering.
