Gilson & Gelson

Gilson Macedo and Gelson Oliveira started playing together in 1995 as Gilson & Gelson. They were a Brazilian duo, with Gilson on guitar and Gelson handling vocals. Their first album came out in 1997, titled after the song 'Faz um milagre em mim,' which became a hit.

That track and others like 'Não Tem É Nada' helped them build an audience. They put out more than ten albums over time, including ones called 'Milagres,' 'Compromisso,' and 'Nosso Amor Não Acabou.' Their music mixed samba, pop, and gospel sounds.

Some listeners thought their lyrics were too simple or commercial, but they kept making accessible, uplifting songs about love and faith. They played a lot of shows, from small venues early on to larger concerts later.
