Gilson Peranzzetta was born in Itapetininga, São Paulo, in 1946. He started out playing in local bars and festivals as a singer and guitarist, and put out his first album in 1972.
His big break came the next year with 'Canto do Lobo,' a duet with Edu Lobo. The song gave him a national profile and the nickname 'The Voice of the Wolf.' He and Lobo went on to make several albums together in the MPB style.
Peranzzetta was known for being outspoken, and his political views sometimes caused friction.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
