Gin Wigmore is a singer-songwriter from Auckland, New Zealand. She started playing guitar and writing songs as a teenager, with Bob Dylan and John Lennon among her early influences. Her debut album 'Holy Smoke' came out in 2009, mixing folk, blues, and rock elements.
Her 2011 single 'Kill of the Night' became her breakthrough track, reaching listeners in New Zealand and internationally. The song's raw vocal delivery and confessional lyrics connected with audiences, and she followed it with an album of the same name. Other songs like 'Written In The Water' and 'Holding On To Hell' show her continued work in that gritty, emotionally direct style.
In 2014, Wigmore was diagnosed with a rare auto-inflammatory condition that forced her to cancel some tour dates. She returned to performing afterward. She released albums including 'Gravel & Wine' in 2015 and 'Ivory' in 2018.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
