Gioigio Gaber

Giorgio Gaber was an Italian singer-songwriter, playwright, and actor who worked in Milan from the late 1950s onward. He started performing in clubs and cabarets, and by the 1960s had released singles like 'Porta Romana' and 'Trani a Schifo' that connected with audiences.

His songs often dealt with social and political themes, criticizing consumerism and war. 'Il mio amico Sandro,' a tribute to an anarchist, became something of an anthem for left-wing listeners. He also wrote and performed plays like 'Il Signor G' and 'Il Dialogo tra un Imprenditore e un Anarchico' that explored similar territory.

Gaber collaborated with musicians including Enzo Jannacci and Claudio Lolli.

He died in 2003. Songs like 'Bella Ciao' remain part of his catalog, and his work continues to be performed.
