Giorgos Sabanis

Giorgos Sabanis is a Greek singer and songwriter from Athens. He started playing guitar and singing early on, drawing from Greek folk music and other influences. In 1991, his debut single 'Boreis Kai Xeirotera' became a major hit in Greece, known for its emotional melody and lyrics about longing.

That song established his presence in Greek music, and he followed it with albums like 'Axiopoulos' in 1992 and 'Prodomenos' in 1995. Other songs like 'Makria (Gia Oso Zo)' and 'Mi Milás' continued in a similar vein of heartfelt, melodic pop. He often performed with a band of supporting musicians.

Some of his lyrics drew criticism for their content, but he kept writing and recording through the late 1990s and early 2000s with albums like 'Omos' and 'Dikeo'. His music stayed focused on emotional themes, as heard in tracks like 'Se Afino Ston Epomeno' and 'Típota'.
