Girl Next Door formed in 2005 as a Japanese pop band. Their debut single "Mirrorball" topped the Oricon charts, and their self-titled debut album followed in 2007. The song "All My Life" from their second album became particularly well-known.
In 2011, bassist Yuichiro Iwai left the group after a legal dispute, and vocalist Ryosuke Imai was diagnosed with vocal cord nodules, forcing concert cancellations. The band recruited a new bassist named Munto and continued making music with a somewhat more mature sound.
They had other songs like "Be Your Wings," "Breath," "Climber's High," and "Dada Para!" in their catalog.
