Girlando Lima

Girlando Lima came up in the Brazilian gospel scene in the 1990s as the lead vocalist for Grupo Revelação. He went solo in 1999 with the album 'Amigos de Deus,' and the title track became one of his best-known songs. Another early hit was 'Maior Amor.'

He was born in 1963 in Riacho Frio, Brazil, and grew up in a Christian family. He wrote his first song at 15. His music often centers on faith, with songs like 'Sem limites' and 'Tantas vezes' reflecting that focus.

In 2006, he faced accusations of plagiarism over a song, though supporters argued his version was transformative. Later, in 2014, his public statements opposing same-sex marriage drew criticism from LGBTQ+ activists. He maintained his position based on his religious beliefs.
