Givuss formed in 2016 with Keisuke Kimura on vocals and guitar, Yuto Saeki on bass, and Yoshinobu Takase on drums. They put out their debut EP 'Hikari no Nai Sekai' in 2018, which included the song 'Boku Ga Koko Ni Iru.' That track, along with others like 'Byakuya Ni Kuroneko' and 'Hana, Tori, Kaze, Tsuki,' became central to their early work.
Kimura had to deal with a vocal cord cyst at one point, which led to some canceled shows. He had surgery and came back to performing. The band followed their EP with albums like 'Hikari no Aru Basho' in 2019 and 'Ashita Kimi ni Aeru Nara' in 2021.
