Gladir Cabral came from Cataguases, Minas Gerais, and started playing guitar and singing with influences from samba and bossa nova. In the 1960s he was part of the psychedelic rock band Os Cariocas.
His song "Rei do Universo" came out in 1972 and became his most recognized work. Other songs like "Mil Caminhadas" and "Alteridade" show his range across more than thirty albums.
Cabral's music often has poetic lyrics and soulful guitar playing. He's been known for an outspoken nature that sometimes drew criticism, but he kept making music with social commentary.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
