Glass Cloud came out of Atlanta in the late 2000s, a metal band fronted by Daryl Kahan. Their debut album 'The Royal Thousand' arrived in 2009, and its track 'Soul Is Dead' caught on with listeners who connected with its heavy, introspective tone.
Kahan drew from personal struggles with addiction and mental health, which shaped the band's lyrical themes. The lineup shifted over time, with guitarist Josh Travis and drummer Christopher Letchford among the members who passed through. They put out a few more albums, like 2012's 'The Ivory Tower', which leaned into a more refined sound.
Glass Cloud's music never aimed for broad commercial appeal, but it found a dedicated audience. Songs like 'All Along' and 'Counting Sheep' carried that mix of aggression and melody that defined their run.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
