The Glory Boys formed in London in the early 1980s with Joe Harrington on vocals, Pete Collison on guitar, Jim Edwards on bass, and Dave Lewis on drums. They came from working-class backgrounds and drew from the skinhead subculture that was part of their environment at the time.
In 1982, they released "Skinhead Resistance," a song that became their most recognized work. Radio stations wouldn't play it, and their record label EMI tried to suppress its release.
They put out several albums through the 1980s, with later work touching on similar themes of working-class identity but with less overt political messaging. The band developed a cult following among skinhead enthusiasts despite the ongoing debates about their music.
